INTRODUCTION

This book was written primarily for those in the believing community who might need a transcendent vision so that neither science nor atheism pose any threat to their faith. The fact is, science and religion are studies of the same phenomenon—one, a study of the personality of God, and the other, a study of the works and power of God.

While unraveling atheism is ambitious, it is not as complicated as one might think. But it does require believers to think critically, to reason soundly, and to honestly assess the facts. Believers who choose not to, or are unable to, meet that standard would do well to avoid the conversation and remain safely on the shores of unchallenged beliefs. They should know that their future is just as assured as that of every other believer who chooses to embark on this journey. For those who are up for the challenge, I invite you to take this journey with me.

I am not a scientist or physicist. Nor am I a religious scholar or theologian. I am simply a believer who is willing to engage in an honest examination of what is known and what is unknown, what is real, and what is possible. My concern is not with science at all. It is with the scientist. Nor is it with atheism. It is with the atheist. So, I will not attempt to discredit science or scientific discoveries.

Instead, I will be proposing alternative conclusions that I believe will appeal to the scientific, analytical, and even materialist or secular-minded person who is open to expanding his or her perspective. Perhaps through these proposals, we can find common factual ground that will facilitate the inevitable realization of the existence of the supernal personality we refer to as God.

I am certain that on the other side of our examination, religion—especially the religion of Jesus—will not be found bankrupt. The spiritual bank of the kingdom of heaven will be paying out faith, hope, and moral security to all who draw upon it "in his name."
